Centrum® Guardian Nominee Terms and Conditions

1. The sponsor of the Centrum® Guardian Competition is Pfizer Consumer Healthcare (Pty) Ltd, South Africa (“Pfizer”).

2. The Centrum® Guardian Competition is only open to registered personnel working in the following emergency services fields – fire fighters, basic life support services, intermediary life support services, advanced life support services and sea rescue services in South Africa.

3. The incident for which a particular emergency service worker is nominated must be based on real-life events, which have taken place within the two year period immediately preceding this competition and must be verified by the particular employee’s commander/director, area manager or employer or supervisor, as the case may be.

4. The competition will run nationally from July to December 2010.

5. Nominations will be shortlisted and submitted to the judging panel, who will select 5 finalists. The finalists will then be interviewed on radio and television and the public will vote for the overall winner of The Centrum® Guardian Project.

6. The prize money that is awarded both to the winning nominee and his place of employment is not transferable.

7. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

8. Pfizer may, in its sole discretion, ban any person who transgresses any of the terms and conditions of this competition, from entering any other Pfizer competitions for a period deemed appropriate by Pfizer.

9. Pfizer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel the competition at any time, if deemed necessary or if circumstances arise outside of its control. If the competition is cancelled in accordance with this clause, Pfizer shall assume no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage howsoever caused in respect of both nominated entrants and their respective places of employment.

10. All nominees are required to consent to the disclosure of their relevant details to the public; and consent to appear on radio, television, the internet, in printed publications and outdoor advertising mediums.

11. All advertisements and promotional material that will be produced in order to broadcast and publish the stories of each of the selected regional finalists to enable members of the public to vote, will be subject to the express consent being obtained from the people who the nominee assisted or rescued, as the case may be.

12. All nominees will be required, at the request of the competition co-ordinator, to make themselves available for telephonic and in-studio radio interviews, in-studio television interviews, location video recordings, photographic sessions and other similar marketing activities in order to market Centrum®. The nominee is required to make the necessary arrangements with his or her employer in order to be available for these marketing activities. Nominees will not receive any remuneration for their involvement in these marketing activities.

13. Pfizer, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to alter any of the terms and conditions or prizes of this competition without notice to any third party. Any alteration of the terms and conditions or prizes shall be communicated to the nominees and their places of employment and shall become effective immediately after being altered and communicated or on such date as may be determined by Pfizer. Nominees and their respective places of employment shall have no recourse whatsoever against Pfizer as a result of the alteration of the terms and conditions or prizes of the competition.

14. Four of the finalists will receive a cheque to the value of R2,000 each. The finalist who receives the highest number of public votes will be the winner of the competition and will be awarded a cheque to the value of R10,000 for a team or R5,000 for an individual. The
nominator of the winner will receive a cheque to the value of R2,000. The winning finalist’s place of employment will receive a cheque to the value of R30,000.
15. The terms and conditions of this competition are valid and binding upon all nominees and their respective employers.

Judging Criteria
1 The nominated story/incident should be newsworthy with emotional and dramatic value.
2 The individual or team must have kept within the basic safety guidelines of the emergency services. Reckless behaviour will not be rewarded.
3 The individual’s track record may be taken into account if the committee reaches a deadlock.
